Special Needs/Title I

At Switzerland of Ohio Schools, we have established a district-wide Title I program to provide educational programs and professional development in our schools. The goal of the Title I program is to help every child receive a high-quality education, particularly in reading and math, to ensure they acquire the knowledge and skills contained in the challenge state content standards. This program also strives for parent and family involvement in our schools.

There are seven Title I Teachers in our five elementary buildings, under the direction of Mr. Curtis Wisvari.

District Seeking Federal Funding Input

The Switzerland of Ohio Local School District is seeking community input regarding the
use of federal dollars for Titles I, II-A, IDEA-B, ESSER, and all other Federal Grants. These federal funds supplement the state and local dollars that also provide funding for the district's comprehensive educational services.

The District's use of these funds supports the activities outlined in the District's One Plan which is available for public comment.

Title I funds are used to provide reading/math instructional intervention along with materials and supplies, tutoring services, parent involvement activities and professional development for staff. Title II-A funds reduce class size and provide professional development activities to improve teacher quality. IDEA-B funds are utilized for special education and related services for children with disabilities by supporting unique needs as identified through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Parents’ Right to Know: No Child Left Behind (NCLB) has been replaced by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Parents have the right to know their child’s achievement scores on statewide assessments; the right to inquire about their child’s classroom teacher’s qualifications; and to be notified if their child has a substitute teacher for four consecutive weeks who is not “Highly Qualified.” Click Here for more information.
