Dear Parents and Students,

Senate Bill 29, which focuses on student data privacy, requires school districts to provide an annual notice to parents about the monitoring of school-issued electronic devices and accounts.

Switzerland of Ohio Local Schools generally monitors all school-issued devices, such as Chromebooks and Google Workspace accounts, either directly or through a technology provider, to help ensure a safe and effective learning environment.  Some examples include student interactions with school-issued devices, like their web browsing and typing activity, and in rare instances with a lost device, we may access a device’s location.  We do this for educational purposes, such as providing support, proctoring exams, and following state and federal laws.  This monitoring also serves as a precaution to help address any safety concerns if they should arise.

If we are required at any time to go beyond this general monitoring, you will receive a notification with additional information.
